Bloomsburg Loses in Lacrosse to Mercyhurst
ERIE--The Bloomsburg University lacrosse team lost to Mercyhurst College on Saturday by a score of 18-8. The Lakers scored the first six goals of the game over the first 24 minutes of play before the Huskies' Sam Alexander (Willow Grove/Upper Moreland) got Bloomsburg on the board with 5:46 left in the half. The Huskies then scored two more goals to make it 6-3 before the Lakers added one before halftime for a 7-3 lead at the break. Mercyhurst opened the second half of play scoring seven of the first nine goals to open a 14-5 advantage. The Huskies got three consecutive scores, two from Megan Taylor (West Chester/West Chester), to make it 14-8, with 12:24 to play, but that would be as close as Bloomsburg would get the rest of the way. Alexander and Taylor scored three times each for Bloomsburg, now 2-5, while Mercyhurst, now 6-5, was led by Kelsey French with five goals. The Huskies visit Gannon on Sunday at noon. |
